In the rusage struct (defined in sys/resource.h), is all data for the
total running time of the process, or is some of it for just the recent
past?  Thanks in advance.

1. fields in rusage struct of resource.h

I am posting this for a friend of mine who doesn't have access

in the /usr/include/sys/resource.h header file, there is a struct called
rusage, which has fields about process resource use. Most of these are
pretty self-explanatory, but there are two called "messages sent" and
"messages recevied". What kind of messages are there referring to?
