how to produce FreeBSD man pages and Makefile?

Man pages in FreeBSD source distribution are not man, ms or me nroff files.
Are there any ways to produce the readable man pages from the source? Also,
the makefiles used are not recognized by our Sun's make program. How can I
get a normal Sun makefile from these source? I guess these are easy if you
build
the entire FreeBSD, however, I only want to build a few programs. Thanks vey
much.

Which version of FreeBSD are you using? nroff -man cat.1 | less works
for me with 2.0.5-RELEASE.

Some of the FreeBSD makefiles need GNU make; pmake should cope with the
rest. (Both of these are available on the net).
