Is there any way to maintain a log file which contains the information,
who fingered me, at what time etc..
Can anyone help me

If you install the tcp wrapper 'tcpd' on your system and use it to
wrap incoming TCP requests, then you'd get a complete logfile of most
incoming connects, including all finger connects. tcpd is available
from ftp://ftp.win.tue.nl:/pub/security/ -- as far as I know.

Just BTW, installing tcpd is definitely a good idea anyway, as it
offers many ways to improve your systems security.
