YACQ (yet another curses question--is Ultrix wierd?)

Post by Doug McNaug » Thu, 13 Feb 1992 01:16:54

I'm trying to compile the gnu text browser 'vh' under Ultrix on a Decsystem
5000/200. Everything compiles fine, but the linker reports two undefined
functions: erasechar() and killchar(). As far as I can figure out from the
code, these should be in the curses library, but as Ultrix is well known to
be strange, perhaps they have different names? I really don't have time to
delve into curses right now--if anyone knows what might be wrong, email or
post to comp.unix.programmer. Thanx a million in advance,
doug

Nope, the names are the same.  Use a #include <cursesX.h> and link with
a "-lcursesX", and you should be able to find what you want.  "cursesX"
is the X/Open Curses package.  A "man 3cur intro" will tell you pretty
much what's in this version of curses.

1. YACQ (yet another cd question :-) )

All,

I have an alias

alias cddir "cd /extremely/long/path/name  \!*"

To get into any dir within /extremely/long/path/name, I merely type

cddir dirname.

I can even do a wild card by typing

cddir dirna*

What I would really like to do is to put the "*" in the alias so that I can
type something like

cddir dirna

and it still works. I tried putting *, \*, "*" etc. They are not expanded by
the shell.

Any ideas??
