checking for serial devices.

checking for serial devices.

Post by Kerry A » Sat, 01 May 1993 02:24:11

Is there a way to directly poll a port (say /dev/ttya) to see if a
device is connected and alive? We have an HP plotter that we need to
check if it is alive before we start a digitizing session.

Thanks in advance,

If you get an answer to this, could you forward it to me at the address in my
tagline? (Just in case I miss it.)  Thanks
