I'm curious how someone could write a script that opens a gateway to
send a message (or output from a script) to a beeper. Anywhere I can
get information on these type of processes?

If the beeper is reacheable via the (corporate) telephone network
you could use a dialer or modem. Just like uucp used to operate.
