                                     (should this be 4.1.3?)

I have used the following X based de*s on Sun systems (ordered by my
preference):

        - ups           (Public Domain)
        - etgdb         (Public Domain)
        - mxgdb         (Public Domain + GNU GPL)
        - xxgdb         (Public Domain + GNU GPL)
        - xcodecenter   (Commercial)
        - xdbx          (Public Domain + GNU GPL)
        - dbxtool       (comes with Sun OpenWindows)

The ups de* is by far the best that I have come across. If you need gdb
functionality for C++ support, etgdb (which comes with the ET++ 3.0
distribution) is the best gdb front end. Archie should be able to tell you
where the ftp sites for these programs are.

Looking for x-based source-level debugger !!!

Hi,

Can someone tell me were to find ET++ 3.0? Actually, all I
really want is etgdb. Archie can not find it. Only  older
versions of ET++ class library. I've been using xxgdb, and
while I'm happy with it, I too loved ups when I was doing
ANSI-C. C++ work could be nicer with a a de* with some
of ups features.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if there is work being done on porting UPS to SVR4/Solaris?

Yep (sort of).  Below is the answer I got from ups's author:

  Status: RO

The bad news is that I haven't started yet.  The good news is that I will
definitely be starting on it soon.  I have about another weekend's work on
other things (also to do with ups) then I move on to the gdb back end.
