COBOL meets C++ on UNIX

Post by David D. Mill » Sat, 29 Jul 1995 04:00:00

Hello, all -

I'm in the process of trying to integrate some C++ classes with
some COBOL code (don't ask - it's a long story).  I've managed
to compile both the C++ code and the COBOL code down to object files,
and managed to almost link everything together.  The linker keeps
complaining about a single undefined symbol, "hashtb".  I've
linked in all of the libraries supplied by the compiler vendor
(Micro Focus), so I was wondering if this is contained in a
standard library somewhere else on the system.  The environment
is: NCR 3455 UNIX 3.02, Micro Focus COBOL for UNIX, and AT&T's
ncc compiler version 3.02.02.   Any pointers are greatly
appreciated.

Gawd...you poor soul...couldn't you explain to management that COBOL
won't run in UNIX ?

  Not to o-fend anyone, but FYI, I got a rash while reading this post.

  friends don't let friends mix C++ and COBOL.

That as tried - hence the part C++, part COBOL approach.  We wouldn't
want to try anything too revolutionary.....
