My advice is to do what Joe Halpin already suggested, visit each site or do

I agree with the others this isn't a development question.
However, Solaris costs money ou spend ages getting all the software
development tools that you use. With Linux, *BSD they are free and all
the development tools are supplied on the media's ;-)
Solaris isn't better then *BSD or Linux, it scales better on very bug
systems, but then again they are only called SUN.
