Forgot to address the limit issue:
*Most* have a limit of ESC [ xx ; xx a
^ ^ ^^ ^ ^^ ^----This could be any letter
| | || | || letter specifies function
| | || | ||______One or Two character
| | || | parameter in the form of
| | || | "1" or ""19"
| | || |_________Parameter seperator
| | ||___________One or Two character
| | parameter in the form of
| | "1" or ""19"
| |______________Escape "guard"
There are cases that can have more than 2 parameters, such as
the character format sequences ( ESC [ xx m ).
How many? I always coded for 40 characters max. Seems reasonable and
I've never run an application that could break any of the emulators
I've written. I've got an original DEC VT102 handbook and can look up
specifics if you really need them.
