Post by razo » Fri, 27 Apr 2001 15:49:57

I've installed the newest freebsd 4.3, kde 2.1.1, qt2.3, and xfree 4.03.  I
was wondering if anti-aliasing works in freebsd.  Anyone know?

thanks

Besides the anti-alias option in the kcontrol in kde, is there anything
special I have to do to get it to work?

don;t think so. to check it, open up a konsole fill it with text and run
xmag to zoom in on it. it's better if the text is bigger. if the text
has grey edges it's on

Do you have it working with truetype fonts as well? When I turn on
AA-options in KDE I loose all my ttf-fonts.

If its any consolation, it doesn't work for me either. However, I haven't
got any scalable fonts it seems, and these are the ones that would get
anti-aliased, not the bitmap ones.

How can I configure XFree86 4.0.3_3 to use TrueType fonts?

Create a TrueType dir under fonts, put your fonts in it, run
ttmkfdir then mkfontdir, finally put Load  "freetype"
in XF86Config and also put the FontPath

1. Anti-aliasing in FreeBSD Xfree

Does XFree in 4.6.2 support anti-aliased fonts?

I came across an article in a magazine a while ago which ISTR said
that for copyright reasons (something to do with Apple?) anti-aliasing
was off by default in  XFree 4 and had to be recompiled to get it
going again.
