/usr/sbin/pkg_create: Undefined symbol "basename"

I've been trying  hard to get the latest ports to work with my  4.1.1-Release
system. I  installed 41upgrade package, which _seemed_ to fix things, ` make
install' began doing  something, but  it allways bombs near the end. I  get
the errror in the subject: Undefined sysmbol "basename" from pgk_create. If
I use  pkg_info, I  will see similar errors like:

pkg_info: show_file: can't open '+COMMENT' for reading

after some  of  the package listings.  Seems the index is corrupt or something,
those who have used the Upgrade kits,  have you had any problems  with pkg_*
afterwards?

Yes.  I just updated my ports tree using cvsup and I am having similar
problems.  I've found that re-issuing the make command, sometimes
multiple times, will work  through the build.  I've only tried this on
a couple of ports so your mileage may vary.

hey, thanks. I did the same with various degrees of success. my pkg_info output
is all messed-up (lot's of show_file: +BLAHBLAHBLAH not found). But I think I
was able to get things working in spite of it.

1. Using "/usr/sbin/vold -d /vold" breaks "eject cdrom"

We have the same problem as you and we also redirect the volume manager
to use /vold instead of /vol.  I can usually get the cdrom to eject by
using "eject /vold/dev/rdsk/c0t6/*" or something like that.  To get floppies
to eject, use "eject /vold/dev/rdiskette0"
