FBSD 3.2 and console/booting

I've installed FreeBSD 3.2 on a new computer and
I've enabled boot: prompt on the serial console,
that is, I do get the boot 'dmesg' and the login:
after bootup, but I donnot the

'kernel selection' at the start of the bootup, and
this is the feature I need incase I build a kernel
that will not boot.

/boot.config
-P

/etc/ttys
ttyv1   "/usr/libexec/getty Pc"         cons25  on  secure
ttyd0   "/usr/libexec/getty std.9600"   dialup  on secure

/usr/src/sys/i386/conf/REPLAY
device          sio0    at isa? port "IO_COM1" flags 0x10 tty irq 4

Did I miss anything ?
