Error compiling kernel 2.2.2

Post by John Paul Campbe » Wed, 02 Jul 1997 04:00:00

I just recently installed 2.2.2 and was able to compile and install a custom
kernel.  I have since needed to reconfigure.  Doing so gave the following
error when I ran "make all":

gcc -c -O -Wreturn-type -Wcomment -Wredundant-decls -Wimplicit
 -Wnested-externs -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes  -Wpointer-arith
 -nostdinc -I- -I. -I../.. -I../../../include -DAPM_BROKEN_STATCLOCK
../../kern/kern_clock.c machine/cpufunc.h: In function `hardclock':
machine/cpufunc.h:331: inconsistent operand constraints in an `asm'
*** Error code 1

I then tried it on the GENERIC kernel to see if I had added something bad,
and got the same results.

What could I have done to cause this?  Like I said, I just compiled it fine
last week.

Any help would be appreciated.

1. Error Compiling Kernel 1.2.13 on Slackeware 3.00

Are you using the 1.2.13 source that came with slackware, or the
normal 1.2.13 build tree from a ftp site?  1.2.13 from the ftp sites doesn't
have ELF support in it, which slackware 3.0 is, hence making it hard to
compile the kernel as ELF.
