Seeing that this is a link on the mirrors I've checked, that means that
the mirror when set up needs to not only mirror pub/FreeBSD/ but also the
relevant parts of pub/XFree86, or else the link points nowhere.  That is,
you've got to nab outside of the FreeBSD source, which, if you quickly
set up a mirror, you're likely to forget, or not know to do...

2.2.6 without X ???

Post by Bill Swing » Mon, 13 Apr 1998 04:00:00

I just finished a net install of 2.2.6 and everything went smoothly
except none of the XFree86 distribution was installed! I chose the
X-Developer install option and when it was all said and done there
wasn't even a /usr/X11R6 directory. I went back and tried to install
XFree86 from the list of specific distributions and it installed the
compat21 dist but nothing else! I have tried this last step a few times.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a work around for it?

Thanks,

Bill

I've seen this a few times, and each time it turns out that whichever
mirror (or self-constructed media) the user was using didn't actually
have the <FBSD-RELEASE>/XF86332 distribution directory populated upon
closer inspection.

That is strange. The two servers I tried were ftp.freebsd.org and
ftp2.freebsd.org. Oh well, I manually went and got the dist.
