I am geting ahold of a few old laptops and desktop computer's to trial
FreeBSD on and see what the Os will run on,  Well can i run the latest
Version of Freebsd on a 286,  386,  486,  &586 ??
There is a laptop and desktop of each shall i just give it a go ??

How do i got about it ??

I also have a Linix server which i am hoping to turn into a Freebsd server
in future is it worth it ?? What is more stable ??

Everything except 286: yes; 286: no.

Boot from CDROM if you can; boot from floppy and read from CDROM
is my next choice. Boot from floppy and read over the network is
my third choice, but you'll need supported NICs.

This is more a religious issue than anything else. See the archives
on deja for posts from the various jihads over the past year or two.
