FreeBSD 2.2.2-RELEASE does not like *german* keyboard

Post by Thorsten Niedzwetzk » Thu, 21 Aug 1997 04:00:00

I've two questions about the 2.2.2-RELEASE of FreeBSD.

I have just installed FreeBSD 2.2.2-RELEASE but can't make
the UMLAUT keys on my keyboard work properly. Of course, I
selected the right keymap. Anyway, the problem is not, that
I don't get the right characters if I press an UMLAUT key,
the problem is rather that FreeBSD just beeps at me when
I press such a key. So selecting a keymap won't help, because
FreeBSD can't translate keys it doesn't even get!

Oddly enough, the "y" and "z" keys are swapped correctly
(that corresponds to the layout of german keyboards).

(I read the documentation but could not find anyting about
such a problem there.)

If someone knows (or guesses) an answer,... *please*!

Thanks to anyone in advance

after installing the release 4 I can't get my German keyboard on a 6400

worked fine. But not anymore.

Is there a solution out there?
