I'm using FreeBSD 2.2.8 release and Squid 2.0 patch 2.
In squid.conf I have the following line:
cache_peer big.proxy.com parent 8080 3130
Still, Squid doesn't use the parent proxy. Can anyone
figure out what could be wrong?

Do you have "never_direct" set in your squid.conf? Can you really
communicate with the parent cache via ICP, or should you be using
port 7 (echo) instead? Do you want to use the parent proxy for all
requests?
I'm afraid I can't be any more helpful, because you haven't given
enough information for me to diagnose the reason for your problem,
and you haven't specified the cases in which you want to use the
proxy, anyway.

1. squid:not forwarding to cache_peer for local servers?
I'm using a web server mandrake 7.0/ apache /squid 2.2.stable5 .
How to configure Squid to allow (for local clients) direct connections
to the
local servers in my domain, AND to forward everything else to the
'cache_peer' host (the main web server)?
In my domain only this main www server is allowed to connect to external
servers
(through a firewall).
I think I have to use the always_direct/never_direct tags, but I don't
find
any good and clear configuration. I always use the cache_peer, even for
the local servers, in my intranet.
Any help would be appreciated.
