netatalk 1.4b2 Port with ASUN 2.1.1

Post by David P. Dische » Tue, 05 Jan 1999 04:00:00

I'm looking for instructions on how to patch and compile netatlk with
the ASUN AppleTalk IP patch, to to work with 2.2.7/8.

My attempt at doing so didn't get very far.
Also trying to figure out if the macos8 and bfree patches are needed.

They seem to have this worked out for linux, but not FreeBSD.
Any hints?

I've answered my own question.

<ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/FreeBSD-current/ports/net/netatalk-...>

which must be a recent thing.

1. RH6.0 and Netatalk+asun

I am running a linux machine with RedHat 6 and the latest version of
Netatalk with Appleshare IP support.

There is a G3/350 connected to it via 100Mbit switch.

The linux machine has a disk mirror which maxes out at around 5MB/second
at the moment (needs tuning).

The maximum transfer rate I can get with file transfers is 1.3MB per
second. On a wintel machine with SAMBA, I can get at least 5MB/second
and up to 9.8MB/sec when writing to a single disk.

I am tearing my hair out trying to get some extra performance out of
this config.

Can anyone give me some pointers?
