Compiling rzsz? Has anyone done it?

Post by David G. Cann » Sat, 05 Oct 1996 04:00:00

I tried to compile rzsz on my FreeBSD box and this is what I get:

wareshoals# make

Quote:>> Checksum mismatch for rzsz.zip

*** Error code 1

Stop.
wareshoals#

I have unzip on my system. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Looks like the version of rzsz you have is not the version of rzsz which
the port was developed with.  Either (a) find the version that it was
developed with, (b) disable the checksum by deleting the file md5 from
your files directory for that port.

Note that doing (b) is not advised if you do not trust the source of your
.zip file to be non-harmful, and may not work in any case (your .zip file
might be corrupted or a newer version which the patches do not fit with).

don't use rzsz, there is a really big bug inside.

He has implemented a lot of new features, fixes a few bugs and more.
See the readme
You can get the package from:
ftp://ftp.ihg.uni-duisburg.de/uwe

rzsz was updated between the time of the 2.1.5-R and today.  The port in
ports-current was updated for the new version ov rzsz about 2 weeks ago.

Get the new portball from
ftp.cdrom.com:/pub/FreeBSD/ports-current/comms/rzsz and try again.

Try lrzsz (url forgotten).  It compiles (and it works).

1. Anyone having trouble compiling yacc with -O ?

Hi,

Are there any known problems with yacc output in 3.2? I've noticed a few
changes that seem to have to do with multinational character parsing.
Specifically, my problem is that if I turn on the compiler optimizer when
compiling the yacc output, bytes in an auxilliary character array that I'm
using start getting set to control characters at runtime, as early as the
first terminal.

The code runs fine if I don't optimize the yacc output along with everyting
else. If I use the yacc output of Sun or DEC yacc, the problems go away.  If
there's an APAR, or other fix available I'd like to know about it.

Thanks,
Peter
