Apache with FrontPage 2000 Extensions, mod_perl, Apache::ASP, Raven SSL

Post by James Ku » Wed, 22 Dec 1999 04:00:00

Please forgive me if this is dumb, I'm pretty new at this FreeBSD/Apache
thing...

Trying to create the mother of all web servers and I need some
help/suggestion/direction.  Apache server v1.3.9 - PHP3 v3.0.12 with MySQL
support - FrontPage 2000 server extensions - mod_perl - Apache::ASP - and
Covalent Raven SSL

Has anyone done this in FreeBSD 3.2 Stable?

Thanks so much!

Build a generic Apache by hand with mod_so (DSO support).  Make sure
you install it using "make install" and not try to copy files by
        hand.

Then build everything else as a DSO using apxs outside of the Apache
        source tree.

Those exact mods?  No.  A ton of mods in Apache?  Sure, all the
time.  I build all my Apaches the same (mod_so static, *everything*
else DSO, even standard core Apache modules).

The port hasn't quite made it yet. You can find it at:

        ftp://www.westbend.net/pub/apache-fp/port/apache13-fp.tar.gz

This is for Apache 1.3.9 and Frontpage 2000.
There's also a mod_ssl version. Should get you started
        for Covalent's SSL.

Check out

http://freebsd.lanfear.com/howtos/frontpage.html.

which describes setting up apache, FP 2000, and I think modSSL from the
sources.

Check also

ftp://www.westbend.net/pub/apache-fp/port for Hetzel's 11/14 apache13-fp
and apache13-fp-modssl ports; I don't know if these have migrated to
ftp.freebsd.org yet.

1. ASP Extensions to Apache using Apache::ASP Perl Module

I've been trying recently to make Apache (1.3.2x) use ASP, and I've pretty
well settled on the Apache::ASP Perl module. However - I'm completely

I've tried using the CPAN method of installation, but all that accomplished
was getting lots of stuff installed under ~root/.cpan/, but nothing
actually installed in the actual Perl directory.

I tried the "Regular Perl Module Install" method, but that caused Apache
to refuse to start with errors.

I assume there are people out there who've installed this successfully,
so I was wondering if somebody could, like, walk me through it. :>

I've installed several Apache modules in past on several different server
configs, but Perl totally eludes me.

I have to get this accomplished shortly, since a client has atleast one,
possibly several customers who absolutely *must* use ASP, and there's
even a possibility that they'll start to demand FrontPage extensions.

Thanks in advance!
