Experiences with new Gigabyte 686DX MB?

   Hi!

Has  anybody experiences with the  new Gigabyte dual PPro MB (GA-686DX)?
Is it as good as the 586DX? Especially  is the BIOS  o.k., i.e. only NMI
when unrecoverable ECC error, PCI config, etc.?

   Please send an e-mail!

   Thanks

   Lars

1. SMP Problems with Gigabyte DA-686DX & PPro

We have a problem with our linux box, containing a Gigabyte DA-686DX
Mainboard and two PPro 200MHz. The system runs fine in single processor
mode, but is that dead slow when we are booting a SMP Kernel (e.g. 2.0.8
or 2.0.30). The boot messages are as follows:

<4>Intel MultiProcessor Specification v1.1
<4>    Virtual Wire compatibility mode.
<4>OEM ID: OEM00000 Product ID: PROD00000000 APIC at: 0xFEE00000
<4>Processor #0 Pentium(tm) Pro APIC version 17
<4>Processor #1 Pentium(tm) Pro APIC version 17
<4>I/O APIC #2 Version 17 at 0xFEC00000.
<4>Processors: 2

<4>Calibrating delay loop.. ok - 199.88 BogoMIPS
<4>Memory: 64108k/66496k available (736k kernel code, 384k reserved,
1268k data)
<4>This processor honours the WP bit even when in supervisor mode. Good.
...
<4>Booting processor 1 stack 00002000: Calibrating delay loop.. ok -
1.95 BogoMIPS
<4>Total of 2 processors activated (201.84 BogoMIPS).

Please note the BogoMips reported for the second processor...

Does anybody have any idea what's going on??

Thanks in advance.
