Konsole and <ins> <del> keys

Post by Dick Hoogendij » Wed, 04 Dec 2002 07:15:07

OK, KDE 3.0.5 is great. Konsole is great. takes a little more mem than
xterm etc, but it sure is nicer.. *BUT* :
why are my DEL and INS keys not working in Konsole????
They DO work in X, gvim, mozilla, etc, so it's not .Xmodmap or whatever.
What's doing something to Konsole? And better still: where can I fix this
behaviour?

My DEL/INS keys work fine running konsole+vim, but not in the main
konsole. No big deal, but just curious..

No, it is not nicer, it is far worse than xterm. First thing i do in my KDE
is removing all trace of konsole.

Nothing works as intended in Konsole. Drop this crap.

Btw, you are talking about the superb simple default setup with twm ? ;-)

I love it.

Not me.. I'm a big fan of Windowmaker. For years now. Only disadvantage
I know of is the 'lack' of some kind of taskbar for programs like gaim,
kmessenger. Some of those things do not wake up again if clicked under
wmaker. They 'need' some sort of taskbar. Ah well.. You can't have all.

xterm. I have tried rxvt (i think that aterm is rxvt based) and had problems
with accented letters if i remember well. On the other hand, not a single
problem with xterm. The worst problem with Konsole if i remember is that it
catches right  mouse events.

Ion all the way, dude. ;) It and ratpoison (which is also nice) are the
only truly "innovative" WMs to come along in ages.

The biggest innovation for me was twmrc.

It should be in the faq.

Well, I noticed, that there is now, X 4 or something, an xterm in the
default mou*u. Put it at the top of the menu, it is most important.

But I do have also gyroscope and xv, for screenshots, and tv, fxtv
and a script there.

had vmac there too but it didnt survive some last harddrive troubles.
maybe I should reinstall it. debabelizer and director 3 was fun.
a pitty that there is no audio support.

Yeah, I have a fat .twmrc lying about from back when I used twm too.
It's got to be the most configurable WM ever (maybe even _too_
configurable sometimes).

1. <Alt>+<key> = <Esc><key> ?

Hi,

How should I tell Xserver to treat simultaneous press (in editor) on
<Alt>+<E> as <Esc><E>, like under VC. Now it returns A with circle on
top.
Therefore, I want the same behaviour of Alt_L under X and console.

Best regards.
