cannot play audio-cds

Hi,

I am running FreeBSD 4 STABLE and compiled my Kernel with the ATAPICAM
Patch so that I can use SCSI Emulation for ATAPI CD Burners. That is the
only way for me to use CDRDAO, CDRECORD etc..I can burn Audio-CDs ,mount
normal 9660 ones. Everything works fine. But one thing is not working. I
cannot play Audio-CDs with for example XMMS or xcd..wonder how to fix
that...

Ijust include some dmesg--->

ad0: 39266MB <IC35L040AVER07-0> [79780/16/63] at ata0-master UDMA66
acd0: CD-RW <PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W1210A> at ata1-master PIO4
(noperiph:atapi1:0:-1:-1): Registered SIM for ata1
acd0: unknown CMD (0x12) - ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=0x24 ascq=0x00 error=0x04
acd0: unknown CMD (0x12) - ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=0x24 ascq=0x00 error=0x04
Mounting root from ufs:/dev/ad0s1a
cd0 at atapi1 bus 0 target 0 lun 0
cd0: <PLEXTOR CD-R   PX-W1210A 1.08> Removable CD-ROM SCSI-0 device
cd0: 3.300MB/s transfers
cd0: cd present [359213 x 2048 byte records]

thanks for help
Christian

When you want to play an audio CD, you don't mount it first.  What
error do you get when you try to play a CD?

Your dmesg suggests you have a CD in the drive on boot, and if you do,
it will probably get mounted (if the device is listed in /etc/fstab),
which is probably not what you want in this case.

1. CD-RW cannot play audio CD

Greetings! After two week's work, I have made the Linux
box work as I want. The only 'blocking' problem, if any,
is that the XMMS/KsCD won't play audio CD from the CD-RW.

I use realpayer and it works fine. I use CD-RW for CD-ROM
or cd record and it works fine too. sndconfig works fine.

In the fstab:
/dev/cdrom  /mnt/cdrom  iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0
ls -l /dev/cdrom:
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root  root 4  2  7 23:07 /dev/cdrom -> scd0

No sound could be heard from both the speaker or the
earphone connected to the CD-RW drive's front jacket.

I checked the small cable connection from CD-RW to Sound
Blaster Live 5.1 card: should be OK.

What could be wrong? Your helps are greatly appreciated.
