Is this a FreeBSD problem or a Win2k disaster

Post by Robert Picar » Wed, 20 Jun 2001 21:23:53

I am running freeBSD on a p233box w/ 128MB ram, it runs as a NATD server
with some port mapping to my win2k box (allowing me to run FTPD and a few
other services w/o slowing down the BSD Box)
However I have noticed that recently, Win2k's internet connection would stop
working, i would have to disable the interfece then re-enable it for it to
start working, this computer used to function as my network service and i
never had problems with the NIC's before, any ideas?

And thanks to Mike Andrews and Jim Levin for helping with the last problem I
still havent worked on it, I will attempt to buy a new NIC to see if that
can fix the problem (See Help TX Underrun - Increasing TX threshold)

I also have win 2000 running and this works. I could be that this card is
busted.

1. Disaster Recovery Question for FreeBSD

When FreeBSD experiences hard drive fail, the quickest way to recover it is
replacing the failed drive and restoring everything from backup tape.
However, to do this, you need to create custom bootable floppies which has a
kernel that mount all your disks and access your tape drive.  The floppies
also must contain whichever backup program you use.
Would someone know the detail information of how to do that? or know a URL
where I can find the information?

Thanks in advance.
