Windows 2000 + FreeBSD + Wavelan + ad doc demo mode - access point ?

Windows 2000 + FreeBSD + Wavelan + ad doc demo mode - access point ?

How are people using (getting to interoperate) Windows 2000 and
FreeBSD in a wireless 802.11b network WITHOUT an access point ?

I have FreeBSD working fine with a Wavelan card in ad hoc demo mode.
This works fine with Windows 98 running a Wavelan card in ad hoc demo mode.
However, I can't seem to find a driver for Windows 2000 that will support
ad hoc demo mode.

It seems that ad hoc demo mode is being replaced by IBSS mode, but
FreeBSD doesn't seem to support IBSS mode yet.

Am I missing something ? How can use FreeBSD along with Windows
2000 in a 802.11b wireless network w/o an access point ?

I think the first thing you should make sure of is that your firmware is up
to date on the wlan card, there are some bug fixes with the new firmware
that correct some of the adhoc problems people were having.

Matt.

firmware is up to date.
so can the Windows 2000 driver + Wavelan work in the old ad hoc
demo mode, and if so, how do you get it there...

thanks.
