kernel ppp problem

Post by Alex » Thu, 26 Jun 2003 19:10:52

Hi

here is my options file:
----------------------------------
/dev/cuaa0 115200
crtscts
modem
connect "/usr/bin/chat -f /etc/ppp/chat.script"
noipdefault
silent
domain my.com
defaultroute
require-pap
user  user-name
------------------------------
and my chat.script:
----------------------------
ABORT BUSY ABORT 'NO CARRIER' "" AT OK ATDT1234567 CONNECT "" TIMEOUT 10
ogin:-\\r-ogin: user-name TIMEOUT 5 sword password
----------------------------

and my pap-secrets
-----
user-name * password
-----

when i start pppd the modem dials my ISP and i hear the connection sound
but then it gets disconnected,i have debugged with ppp and it was successful
after i "set authname" and "set authkey" before going to terminal mode so
i guess the authentication method is PAP.....

any idea?

1. Kernel PPP problems

Hopefully somebody will be able to shed some light onto what is wrong.
Below are the scripts for kernel PPP

pseudo-device   PPP     4       #tabs not spaces
options PPP_BSDCOMP             #tabs not spaces
options PPP_DEFLATE             #tabs not spaces
are all in the kernel

/etc/ppp/options:
-----------------
########################
#
# Options for the pppd
#
########################

crtscts
modem
deflate 12,12
user rossob
nodefaultroute
lock
idle 500

---------------------------------------------------------

dial.chat:
-----------
##
# Abort chat script if the modem replies busy or no carrier
##
ABORT BUSY                      #spaces not tabs (should this be
reversed?)
ABORT 'NO CARRIER'              #spaces not tabs (should this be
reversed?)

##
#Wait 5 seconds for the reply to each of these
##
TIMEOUT 5
'' ATZ                  #no space between ''
OK ATDTisp_fone_number

##
#wait 50 seconds for connection
##
TIMEOUT 40
CONNECT
TIMEOUT 5
gin:-\\r-gin: 'username'
sword: 'passwd'

---------------------------------------------------
to dial I type:
pppd /dev/cuaa1 57600 connect 'chat -f /etc/ppp/dial.chat' user
username

Modem dials and seems to connect, but doesnt go any further (altho I
have
no
way of knowing how far it goes)

ifconfig gives the following result the whole time it is connected

$ ifconfig ppp0
ppp0: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1500

Any pointers/help would be appreciated
