pcmcia hanging

Post by <hyopj.. » Mon, 29 May 2000 04:00:00

I am runnning freebsd 4.x

I have my pccard.conf file configured for the pcmcia card I have installed.
When I insert my card I get /kernel:pccard inserted, slot 1.  Then it just
hangs.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

More information would be helpful: What PC card? How did you configure it?
What about the resources it uses or tries to use?

I have the d-link 660   I edited the pccard.conf.sam so that it was the
only entry....and I left the stuff at the top such as 0x240-0x360, memory
allocation etc....

With the irq's,  do I leave that as is or do only leave the one I want it
to use?

I think I have 10 or 11 assigned to it in the actual config entry.  I don't
have it in front of me right now unfortunately.

thanks for the help

Hi again,

This works for me with a d-link 650.

My 650 works with
        config 0x20 "ed0" ? 0x10

I'd bet this is ok with the 660, too, could you look for your config if
there are further problems?

BTW, an error I've made when setting the thing up was not setting
pccard_conf in /etc/rc.conf to the new config file, so it still used the
(stuffed) /etc/pccard.conf.sample, which broke pccardd. Checked this? ;-)

Cheers,
  Thiemo

1. Eth.PCMCIA hangs when I pull out cable.....

Hi.

I have very nice but old laptop: Dell Latitude Xpi P100SD
with installed RedHat 7.3.
There is a PCMCIA Ethernet device in laptop: Megahertz XJ10 BT
(XJ10BC).
It works fine with smc91c92_cs module until I pull out my ethernet
cable
from connector. It hangs and flashes red light. Then I must
do: "cardctl reset" - LED makes green and card is working.

Any hints ?
What to do ?

(I have tied already different IRQs, recompiled kernel with module
built in it)

Thanks for any answer. washu(at)go2(point)pl
