wine & games

Post by bria » Sat, 01 Feb 2003 06:50:25

I have 2 machines, one runs windblows 2k and the other FreeBSD 4.7

I have a question for you all

the only thing now keeping me running winblows is 2 games i like to play,
and would like to know if anyone has any suggestions

The games are Earth & Beyond(they do not have plans to make a linux version)
and Return to Castle Wolfenstien

would wine have a problem running these games? with internet connectivity to
the games?

Thanks

The WineHQ site (http://www.winehq.com/) has a list of all games known to
work (or not) with its software.  I had the same question as you, but
concerning Age of Empires.  It apparently runs, but ... badly.  :-(

Brian,
You may want to google around a bit, I could have sworn that people have
posted that they got Wolfenstein working with the Linux version and the
nVidia drivers. (Maybe other drivers as well.) I'm not sure about Eartg
& Beyond.

Don't forget Wine has a new release every 2 weeks. Things can change
markedly between releases.

1. Wine,wine,wine - I need help with wine

Help
I down loaded and installed Wine to Linux 2.0.22 and Xwindows (XFree).
I think it's installed correctly.  I am getting a 'drive not found/path
not found' error.  I have my wine.conf in the right place (I think).
I'm using Win95 and hda3 and Linux on hda1.  I need a reality check.  Is
it hard to set up Wine?  Does someone have a working wine.conf file that
might guide me to a working wine.   Wine, wine, wine and beer. Ok I'll
stop wineing

Thanks
George
