How can I change "kern.ipc.maxsockets"?

  Hi! :)
  Using FreeBSD 4.4.
  How can I change "kern.ipc.maxsockets"?

    /usr/src#sysctl kern.ipc.maxsockets=4096

sysctl: oid 'kern.ipc.maxsockets' is read only

I must open sockets more than 1024 or 1064.
  Please? Any advice...
  Thank you in anticipation.

Just guessing here, but maybe you have to set it in /boot/loader.conf (a
bit like some of the other tunable stuff described in man tuning).

1. kern.ipc.maxsockets

I'm running into a problem with the number of tcp connections that my
freeBSD box can handle. Doing a sysctl on "kern.ipc.maxsockets" reveals
that only 1064 are allowed. I need about 5000. I've tried changing this
value using sysctl both in a shell and programatically. The shell says
that it is a read only value.

Does this mean I am out of luck? Any workarounds? How about recompiling
the kernel?

I've also looked at "kern.maxfilesperproc" and am able to change that
to whatever I want. But it doesn't affect the number of socket
connections I can have.
