Awhile back I saw some references to a ccd-xxx device and stripped filesystems.

Does FreeBSD have Logical Volume support(like Sun's Online Disk Suite, or
Veritas, or IBM's built in Logical Volume Manager) ? Or was the ccd-xxx device
a refernce to a hardware RAID option ?

TIA

It supports three types of *sfotware* volume spanning:

1)      Simple spanning (it get's its name, concatenated
        disk driver, from this).

2)      Striping.  Rod Grimes was even using it with spindle
sync, assuming SCSI disks that support it (IDE: never
        had it, never will).

3)      Mirroring.  I believe ASAMI added this.

Thanks Terry,

I'm looking at the FreeBSD Handbook and the install book, and it makes no
mention of it(that's why I'm confused). What are the keywords I should be
looking for ?

Thanks again.

I got the impression from your use of the all-uppercase family

of your first name in deference to Japanese cultural mores.

I didn't realize you had been Americanized.  8-).

I don't know if Rod did his spindle sync experiments with ccd, though.

 * 3)   Mirroring.  I believe ASAMI added this.

It only works if you're striping though.  We talked about adding
mirror support for the non-striped case in the mailing list, but never
got around to it....

Let's see if I got it fixed on this one....

1. Promise 378 SATA Raid controller stripe configuration MBFastTrack78

I need to switch from the ICHR controller to the Promise controller on my
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe.  However, I am part way through installing the ICHR
controller, and don't know how to start again from scratch.  The array was
built for the ICHR, but I was unable to install a Linux driver for ICHR.
I found the Promise driver, but MBFastTrack78 does not seem to run, and I
have found no way to start it.  Ctrl-F does not seem to work.

I think I need to delete the array and build it again.  How can I do this?
