Apache ssl certificate

Apache ssl certificate

Post by Michiel van E » Thu, 18 Apr 2002 17:20:52

Hi,
I want to change the server.crt and the server.key, but when I create a new
server.crt and server.key and place them in the right folder, I still het
the snakeoil certificate when I connect to my webserver over https.
Doe anyone know how I can solve this problem?
Is Apache showing an other certificate? of is Apache showing only the top of
the certificate?(that is where the snakeoil shit resides and below is my
webserver information,etc.)

Thanks in advance!

MichielvE

ps..I use FreeBSD 4.5

You need to edit the apache config file (httpd.conf, perhaps under /etc/httpd
or /usr/local/apache/conf) to refer to your new key and cert files.

Hi all..I did a couple of things:
-make certificate in the /ports/etc. and than copied the new created .key
and .crt to the directory where httpd.conf points where it has to be

-did openssl x509 blablala to make a ney .crt and .key file and copied those
in the right directory

-copied my Suse Linux certificates to the FreeBSD box.

None of those 3 worked!!

Has anyone an idea what is going wrong?
Is Apache only showing the top of the certificate?(where the Snakeoil
resides?)

Thanks in advance!

1. apache + ssl + certificate +netscape = error?

I am working with apache +ssl. I have installed the apassl package from
suse5.3,
I can connect to the apache, but whenever I use another value than 0
for
SSLVerify , my Netscape 4.0.5 gets the following error:
A network error occured while Nescape was receiving data.
The error-log says the following:

/var/log/httpsd.error_log:
[Sun Nov 22 16:32:48 1998] created shared memory segment #2944[Sun Nov
22 16:32:48 1998] Server configured -- resuming normal operations
[Sun Nov 22 16:33:06 1998] SSL_Accept failed
[Sun Nov 22 16:33:06 1998] error:140890AC:SSL
routines:SSL3_GET_CLIENT_CERTIFICATE:no certificate returned

Is this a problem of the client or the serverconfiguration?
Thanks
