Mule for Emacs 21.2.1

Mule for Emacs 21.2.1

Post by Peter W » Mon, 12 Aug 2002 21:25:28

I want my emacs 21.2.1 to be able to display and input Chinese. However,
it can display Chinese characters but does not allow to input
any. According to the error message, the input method is not available
for Emacs.

I also instaled XEmacs and it can do both jobs well. But I stick to GNU
Emacs. I used the package in FreeBSD but don't find a corresponding mule
package for GNU Emacs 21.2.1. How should I proceed? What package should
I install? I notice that some packages reside in the package system but
they seem to be designed for and depend on Emacs 20.7.

Can anyone help me here? Thank you!

Have you installed the LEIM package?

How to check that? I just pkg_add -r emacs21 under FreeBSD.

Will that install LEIM by default? Thanks.

XEmacs works well that it can both display and allow me to input
Chinese. The problem is Emacs here. It cannot input.

What is the additional package that I need? Thx.

Why should it?  Leim is an add-on for Emacs-21.2 (it will become
automatically included in version Emacs-21.4).

I don't know your operating system.  A wild guess would be
pkg_add -r emacs21-leim

How about consulting the info where you got to knew about the emacs21
package?

Thanks a lot, David!

After adding the LEIM-21.2 package, Emacs works wonderfully! :)

1. integrating dbx and EMACS 21.x

Hello:
I used to use gdb to debug programs compiled using g++ in EMACS. When
I step line by line, EMACS displays source codes in another EMACS
window. How can I achieve the same functionality in EMACS using dbx? Any
special command I should issue to EMACS or dbx so that EMACS can
understand dbx annotation?

thanks in advance
