syslogd: "/" in "/dev//dev/tty"

syslogd: "/" in "/dev//dev/tty"

Post by Roland Hammerl » Sat, 07 Oct 2000 04:00:00

I get the following message in /var/log/messages:

syslogd: "/" in "/dev//dev/tty"

I can see that there are too many "/", however, where does it come
from? Any ideas? I am running 4.1-RELEASE.

1. Getting unexpected syslogd: '/' in "/dev//dev/tty"

Can someone point me to why every xterm I have prints these messages

Apr  2 22:14:19 bio_bsd syslogd: '/' in "/dev//dev/tty"

every now and then? I realise these are associated with the message
logging, but am not sure why these errors show up on the xterm.

I am running 4.2 release and running a compiled
kernel without the extra drivers, but with ipfw and natd included.

Thanks for any assistance (in advance)
