I use ghostscript, thus all non-text trough Postscript. I haven't seen any
printerfilter, driver or deamon which directly supports Canon BJC. Some
software does support epson printing. However with the few such programs I
tried, using Postscript was the best and only a little bit slower.

(I assume that you use free software (or GNU, there's a slight difference)
Of course if you want to pay (and wait) for it you can always get support
for Canon BJC.

Try apsfilter, it's in the ports. That way you can type "lpr <some file>" and
it will be printed in the correct formatting. It can print most graphics
formats, postscript, dvi and HTML, and probably more.

1. Canon BJC-4000 Printer: What Printer Driver Do I Use for Postscript Translation?

I'd like to print straight from Linux, and do all word processing and
so forth.  But, I dunno if there's a special Canon driver, since the generic
Epson one is _SLOW_ and looks awful.

Is there a special driver for this printer via GhostScript?
