ATAPI IDE-CDROM question

ATAPI IDE-CDROM question

Post by Tan Pan Yon » Fri, 27 Jun 1997 04:00:00

Hi all,

I have a Creative IDE-CDROM drive, which I've unplugged from the SB32
card, and
plugged to the secondary IDE slot.

Win95's config.sys says:
DEVICEHIGH=C:\SBCD\DRV\SBIDE.SYS /D:MSCD001 /V/P:170,15,36e

Linux sees it as ide1, 0x170-0x177, 0x376, irq15.

What is the magical incantation in the kernel config to get FreeBSD 2.2.2
to see it?

TIA. Cheers.
(Please post or use reply-to. I'm using my wife's newsreader setup, not
sure if the
addresses will come up right.  ;-)

1. ATAPI / IDE CDROM Question

   From the README.ide(ide-3.4.patch.75+):
+Note that present, the kernel is unable to execute demand-paged binaries
+directly off of the cdrom (due to the different block size).

This restriction should be removed in the next version of the atapi driver.
