I recently deleted FreeBSD 2.1.5 from my system because I needed to
re-install it, and doing the re-install OVER the previous install didn't
work right. However, since in the first installation I installed the
FreeBSD boot manager, I appear to be stuck with said boot manager. Is
there any way I can erase the boot manager from my MBR without doing a
low-level format or anything * like that?

If you got a dos partition, or a dos disk with msdos fdisk on it you might
want to try a:\fdisk /mbr which will restore the master boot record, then
from their you can do your stuff. Or you might be able to just set a diff
boot manager as bootable using fdisk (dos or freebsd's) ie the partiton
that the boot manager is in.

fdisk /mbr

Boot from a DOS floppy, and use the command "fdisk /mbr". This will
restore the previous master boot record.
