Hello everybody,
recently I had to upgrade the hardware and the software of
my FBSD system.
old system: 486DX2, EISA-Board (SIS-Chip),
AHA1742 / AHA2742AT,
32MB RAM
FreeBSD 2.1
new system: ASUS T2P4, AHA2940AU, 64MB RAM
1. AHA2940 general-protection fault,scsi timeout
Has anyone had trouble with general-protection faults + scsi timeouts
using the AHA2940 driver, and more importantly has anyone solved this?
We get them once or twice a day, and more frequently with heavy disk usage.
Any help would be appreciated.
The fault usually occurs in the "update" process, and sometimes in fsck
during reboot. Then, a second later, the next process to use the disk
dies with a scsi-timeout error. The system is now hung. The crash messages
look like this:
