Problems Building pam_ldap on FreeBSD

I'm trying to build the LDAP Plugable Authentication Module (pam_ldap) on
FreeBSD 4.1 and having no luck.  There seems to be some problems with the
Makefile generated from configure. I've been mucking around with it, but I
can't seem to get things to jive.

Has anyone out there sucessfully compiled pam_ldap and got it to work on
FreeBSD? If so, would you mind emailing me your Makefile? Any helpful
tips/caveats would also be appreciated.

failed.
Has some one managed to compile and setup LDAP authentication with
pam_ldap
and openldap?
