i830 + X 4.3 + FBSD 5.1?

So for fun I decide try out FreeBSD 5.1 on some spare Optiplex GX260s I
have around, which happen to have one of those i810/i830 chipsets. Seems
I've stubled across some sort of known problem with this video chipset.

Using Google to read through USENET archives, I don't have a clear
picture on the state of things. What IS the current state of
support/development of FreeBSD 5.1 + XFree86 4.3.0 + i810/i830? Any
tricks I can use for now, or if I just have to wait, any ETA? Or is this
a dead-end?

1. Anyone done 4.3 -> 5.1 with nfs?

As the subject says, has anyone done this with nfs as opposed to nim or
working from the console. The documentation says it is not possible but
I was wondering if anyone has done this successfully in an unsupported
way.
