Format the floppies in DOS/Win and make certain that they have NO bad
sectors.  Boot floppies are sequentially written with no file system and
if there are any bad sectors at all, they will not work.

those two file should be copied to seperate discs with raw disk write
tools,i.e. rawrite.exe under msdos or dd command under un*x.

I'm having the same type of problem, and I suspect that it's memory/motherboard
related (or a combination of the two).

I have a Dual PIII-800EB system based on the Gigabyte 6VXDC7 with 512MB (2*256)
of RAM. If I boot the system with one of the DIMMs out, it works fine. As soon as
I put the second DIMM in, it blows up.

1. FreeBSD 4.2 won't boot - 'read error' on boot after install

Just installed FreeBSD 4.2 and 4.1 , installtion goes fine until it asks
to remove cdrom/floppies and reboot. Then before anything attempts to
load I get a read error when access the hard disk, then hangs there.

The machine is an old P133 ICL ErgoPro, but runs Windows 95/98 OK so I
know it will boot.

Any ideas???

TIA,
Ash
