What kind of mouse is Microsoft mouse on Gateway-2000 ?

Post by Jim Dutt » Thu, 28 Nov 1996 04:00:00

I have a GW-2000 machine with FreeBSD on it, and a true, "green",
Microsoft mouse that plugs into the GW-2000 "mouse port". It doesn't appear
to be /dev/mse0, nor /dev/tty00, nor /dev/sysmouse, nor /dev/mouse.

When I bring up XFree86-3.2, I have no mouse capabilities, and have tried a
couple of different XFree86-3.2 mouse (protocol) configurations.

--I am not familiar with GW, but it sounds line a PS/2 mouse.

That's a PS/2 mouse & it's device psm0. I think you'll have to re-build
the kernel to enable it.

If it is a serial mouse on COM1, then it is /dev/cuaa0 if it is a serial
mouse on COM2, then it is /dev/cuaa1, etc.

1. MOUSE - BUSMICE - Gateway 2000 mouse wont work

Dear All,

I've got a Gateway 2000 P75 running Linux Slaxkware 3.4 almost prefectly
except the busmouse!  Ive read the HOWTO's and think I'm configuring all ok
but the mouse still cannot be seen.  This seems to be Kernel level? because
gpm -t with every type of supported mouse i.e. all those in gpm -t help
will not work.  Do I need to recompile the kernel?  Has anyone else done
this.  The mouse is aa PS2.
