How to increase FD_SETSIZE in FreeBSD 3.4

Post by ye yo » Fri, 23 Jun 2000 04:00:00

Hi,
I have a FreeBSD 3.4 and  run a irc server .
when I config the irc server, I want it to support
FD_SETSIZE >1024, say 2048, I have used

" sysctl -w kern.maxfiles=8192
 sysctl -w kern.maxfilesperproc=4096"
and the rusult of
"sysctl kern.maxfiles
 sysctl  kern.maxfilesperproc "  are 8192 and 4096 now,
but when it still dispalys "your system supported  FD_SETSIZE
is 1024", are there other changes to be make?

thanks!

1. Netscape 4.7 for FreeBSD 2.2x does not run on FreeBSD 3.4

Hi.
I have FreeBSD 3.4 (the latest) and the installation tar.gz of Netscape
4.7.  I ran it on my previous version of FreeBSD (2.2.8).  However, when I
ran it on FreeBSD 3.4,  I got this message:

ld.so not found

So, I went to netscape and found this page:
http://help.netscape.com/kb/consumer/19990801-1.html
that told me EXACTLY how to fix it. Great, I thought. The netscape folks
are good at tech support. I followed the instructions.
Now I get this:

Shared library libXt.so.6.0 not found.

This is ridiculous.
What should I do?
Thanks in advance.
