I wound up with the Microstar MB.  I tried 4 different copies of the
FIC MBs but couldn't get any of them to run reliably (most often I got
various random errors in gcc when building the kernel or doing a make
world).  Since switching to the Microstar MB my 650MHz Athlon system has
been rock solid (for about 4 weeks now) running 4.0-current.

I don't believe that are any problems with the K7 processor,
but some of the cheaper motherboards have been known to
have issues with the keyboard and stability.  Go with a
Asus board or something from a decent vendor and it should
work fine.

I had to replace a dimm, but no problems other than that

1. Athlon + Athlon optimized kernel => _mmx_mmcpy problems

Hi,

I thought, as I have an Athlon, I should recompile my 2.4.18-ac3 kernel
for Athlon optimzied ... yadda ... but this causes serious problems.

After booting, it has quite a lot of depmod problems, with depmod -e it
shows all are '_mmx_mmcpy' and vmware can't compile, cause of the same
error.

so I had to go back to PIII style ... or I wouldn't have been able to
update vmware ... sad thing
