I'd like to try FreeBSD 3.2, however I have some problems. Here's
what I'm trying to do:
Using two computers, I want to install FreeBSD onto a 400mhz
AMD that already has NT and OS/2 loaded. Problem is, I can't
"see" partition types like I did under Linux (there are linux
partitions already carved out that I want to install over).
How do I get to "see" partition's so I don't kill what I have
on the machine.
I tried to install on the "slow" computer using a linux machine
as a server. I think I copied all of the needed files
from the ftp.freebsd.org site to a NFS export directory. However,
the install dies trying to configure X on the target machine. If
I skip X, I get a FreeBSD box... so the question I guess is there
a map of what files I need to have so I can verify that I actually
have a usable copy of the distro? In addition, the ftp.freebsd.org
site's 3.2-RELEASE directory contains links, ncftp didn't seem
to be smart enough to follow links, its a pain to pull it down
in segments. Any way around this?
TIA, email replies welcome.
