Change IRQ

Change IRQ

I finally got FBSD to recognize my soundcard (integrated on motherboard)
but I have an IRQ conflict.  How can I softset the IRQ?  I tried booting
from the cdrom but that does not contain the new kernel device
configs.....any suggestions?

What is it conflicting with?  When you are booting up you can wait until you
get
prompted that it'll load the kernel in 10 seconds, hit enter to load or any
other key for a prompt. Hit any other key (if you can find the "any other"
key, lol). Then you'll get a prompt that looks like ok>   type in "boot
-c".  Then you'll get a prompt that says config> type in "v" for visual
configuration.  This should look familiar as you had to mess with this when
you first installed FreeBSD.  Now you can change the IRQ of either the
soundcard or the device that it's conflicting with.  Of course, make sure
that you are changing them to the valid ones.  Some devices such may need to
be jumpered.  If you already have a stable configuration of windows on your
computer then go to the device manager and write down all your interrupts
and ports.

Change IRQ

Scotty,

Thanks for your reply.  Its conflicting with my network card.

When I followed your instructions the I cannot find the soundcard.  Should it be
listed under multimedia?  If so there are no items to select.  I am confused.
Pardon me as I am new to unix although I know other operating systems well.
Thanks

you may also try to boot DOS and change ethernet card IRQ with DOS utilitiy
which came with it... I think most of them have those.

1. changing irq with setpci and kernel 2.2.*

Hi all,

I'm trying to change the irq of the following device:
00:10.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c900 Combo [Boomerang]

Because it uses IRQ5 by default and I want it to use another one (eg: 7)
IRQ5 will be used by an ISA Plug and Pray sound card (Oh my God)

Trying the following command line:

setpci -s 00:10.0 INTERRUPT_LINE=7

(Tried while driver unloaded and loaded)

I cannot change ethernet's IRQ... what I'm missing?

I have checked around the net and docs without no luck at all...

Any comment/suggestion will be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance,

                        Ulisses
