Wierdness with ncr0...

Post by Jeffrey Patrici » Fri, 09 Oct 1998 04:00:00

I just installed 2.2.7 on a new machine today. Everything works except I
get this message...

ncr0: regdump: da 00 00 9d 47 0f 06 07 35 08 86 00 80 00 0f 02.
ncr0: restart (fatal error).

sd0(ncr0:6:0): WIDE SCSI (16 bit) enabled
sd0(ncr0:6:0): 40.0 MB/s (50 ns, offset 15)

What is my machine doing? I have a Tekram 390F and an IBM DCAS34330...
Any ideas? Thanks..

1. ncr0 SCSI driver errors

After adding a Fujitsu 230MB magneto optical drive via the
od0 device driver, I started getting the following SCSI
errors.  It sounds as if the od driver doesn't give the
drive enough time to spin up, so it times out and reissues
the command.  After four or five attempts, it usually aborts
and prints "input/output error", though sometimes the kernel
locks up hard.

Can anyone speculate as to what might be happening?  Better
yet, can anyone suggest a course of action?

I'm using an NCR 53C810-based card, with a Quantum drive
at ID 0 and the Fujitsu at ID 1.  The kernel is 2.1R.

Thanks.

-David.
