Questions - starting X

How do i start X as a user ?  -- msg : xauth: timeout in locking
authority file
--msg :  cannot open log file "var/log/XFree86.0.log"

If I startx as root can I transfer ownership to a user ?

Can I allow X to start  on boot up ?   -- like /etc/initab in linux

Is there a window manager to allow to choose between different window
managers ?

Not really, but see the previous link.

There are tools around that do this.  I think both KDE and Gnome come
with such programs, but there may be others as well.

Install the Xwrapper port - /usr/ports/x11/wrapper - then startx
will work.

In /etc/ttys, find the line that runs xdm on ttyv8 and change the "off"
to "on" in the next-to-last field, then "kill -1 1".
