Very Computer

I plan to buy the Miro 16si (ISA) and to use it under XFree386.
Are there any experiences with that combination or maybe some
XConfigs ?

It`s very important for me, so please answer !

I'm using the 16Si with a standard apple-color monitor,
and made an XConfig which takes this combination to
something like 720x495, while it's specs are just 640x480,
so I'm pleased enough. I can't say anything about
higher resolutions yet, but I'm pretty confident given
the RAMDAC and clockchip used.
One problem i do have is with returning to the text-console
after using X; It's not the familiar font-corruption,
but it looks more like videa-ram addressing problem.
This problem is still there with XF86_S3-2.1.1, but
not with the VGA16 server. Any ideas, anyone?

But the problems are:

* Switching back to text-mode does not restore the fonts. EVEN NOT IN
  XFREE 2.1.1 !! Also the trick with the runx script doesn't work.

* There is still a limitation of the clock-frequency to 90MHz (!).
  That's what Dirk Hohndel told me. They still do not really know
  how to program that RAMDAC and there are still unsolved problems with
  the 805i.

I don't know, when these bugs will be fixed. For now I can just say:

font-corruption, then it's a good, and cheap solution. If you can't live
with that, you should consider another card.
