Diamond Stealth 32 Xconfig????

Post by Hemant Sh » Fri, 06 Jan 1995 07:34:53

Has anyone configured XFree86 for Diamond Stealth 32 PCI graphics card (it has
W32P chip which is backward compatible with ET4000), and logitech trackman
trackball on COM2?

I cannot seem to get it work.

I would like to see this posting too! I don't see a Diamond Stealth 32
mentioned anywhere in the X benchmark postings, only Diamond S3 cards...

Anyone out there have a Diamond Stealth 32 working under X???

Isn't there a mention that GNU will not support companies like Apple, Diamond
etc. that have proprietary hw/firmware/sw? I remember reading somewhere
(over a year ago) that Linux will not support Diamond for the same reason!

But then again, I have been known to be wrong before!

Most certainly... I would think that a Stealth 32 with VLB bus would
be the same.

1. Diamond Stealth 32 Xconfig

The following is my Xconfig for my Diamond Stealth 32 2MB VLB. It is for
XFree 2.1.1, so you modern guys and gals with XF 3.1 will have to make
some changes.

Additionally I added 2 lines to my startx to change the third dot clock
(numbered 0,1, and 2) to 65.011MHz and to change it back after X. I use
the freq program to do this. I add:

        PATH/freq 65011 2 --> at the beginning of startx
        PATH/freq 28318 2 --> at the end of startx

Freq can be found in a compressed archive diamond.taz on various Linux
sites (sunsite.unc.edu, tsx-11.mit.edu etc). Hope this helps someone.

Please feel free to write me back if you have troubles.
